The Music of O'Carolan

Arranging Pipe and Fiddle Tunes for Harp

Get some useful ideas on how to expand your Scottish repertoire and how to select tunes from non-harp instrumental collections. Beginning Harp I

Sat., June 12, 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., $35 ($60 for both of this instructor’s workshops).
This hands-on workshop requires no previous experience with harp. Explore topics such as tuning, posture, hand position, and fingering technique. By the end of the workshop you will be able to play selected chord progressions, including one from a well-known folk tune. Then, take Beginning Harp II.

Beginning Harp II

Sat., June 12, 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., $35 ($60 for both of this instructor’s workshops).
Begin with simple right-hand scale patterns that are used to link melody notes, then learn a popular melody based on them.
