Renowned accordionist Dan "Daddy Squeeze" Newton shares some of his ideas on style, technique, and variation for French musette, Gypsy swing, and other European music. Develop techniques for sounding more "authentic" and explore methods of extending tunes when you're not a hot, improvising soloist, using harmony, ornamentation, variations, and arranging tricks. Dan will follow up the first workshop with a session dealing with American styles, including Blues, Jugband, Country, and Cajun/Zydeco. This workshop explores the subtle rhythmic and melodic differences and similarities in American styles. We will also cover soloing and backing vocals and other instruments.
