Songwriters' Conversation — with Peter Spencer

Next conversation with: Robyn Landis, March 21

The Songwriters' Conversation is a series of intimate, in-depth interview/performances hosted by nationally known songwriter Peter Spencer. In these monthly events, well-known local and national songwriters will compare notes with Peter on the details and techniques of writing songs, with an emphasis on the craft involved in shaping a convincing, meaningful blend of melody and lyric. March 21, 2:30 p.m. - Robyn Landis

Robyn Landis is a writer of unusual depth, intensity and literacy. Her distinctive command of songcraft, evocative poetry, unflinching honesty, and fierce intelligence have garnered comparisons to Richard Shindell and Dar Williams.

Robyn had a full career as a writer and author (publishing two bestselling books in her twenties) before turning her full attention to music. Her gifts and skills as a writer, applied to songcraft, earned her quick recognition. Since 2005 she has accrued more than 45 songwriting awards and honors, including first place at Woody Guthrie Folk Festival and second place in the Unisong International Songwriting Competition. Her most recent and prestigious accolades include Grand Prize in the 2009 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Her second recording, Many Moons, released May 2009, was one of the most-played records on folk radio in the last four months of 2009, reaching #16 on the folk charts.

"Robyn Landis radiates excellence with every word, every note and every song. Many Moons is clearly one of the most exciting projects released by a singer/songwriter in North America this year...This girl has what it takes--and then some!" writes DJ Dennis Brunnenmeyer, KVMR (CA).
