Laurie is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer, and songwriter; her repertoire is drawn from many cultures and eras. Laurie has played harp with the Chieftains, sung with the Masterwork Chorus at Avery Fisher Hall, and been featured on American Airlines in-flight music and on National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered”. Laurie feels it’s important to stay in touch with the joy of playing and the soul of the instrument. She respects individual students’ different needs and wishes while making sure basic techniques and skills are learned and mastered so that the maximum amount of progress can be made.

Teacher Biography: Scott graduated from the Percussion Institute in Hollywood, CA. He later attended the University of Washington, studying jazz performance and percussion under the tutelage of Tom Collier, William O’Smith, and Stewart Dempster, and has also studied bodhrán with Bill Woods and Paddy McLonin. He has performed around the world with Brandi Carlile, Korby Lenker, and Candlebox. Scott brings vast experience in the recording and performing industry to his bodhran lessons. Topics range from showing beginners to how to hold the tipper to traditional Celtic dance accompaniments to contemporary modern rhythms in rock and ethnic music, while encouraging each student to find his or her own style, technique, and creativity.
