Carol Martin

Mandolin

Teaches at Dusty Strings: Thursday

Ages Taught: All Ages

Levels Taught: All Levels

Teacher Biography: Carol has logged many years of teaching and performing, and gives workshops at bluegrass festivals and events like the National Oldtime Fiddlers’ Contest in Weiser, Idaho, the birthplace of her award-winning band, Noteworthy. Carol starts out beginners with correct mechanics, ergonomics, and good rhythm, and continually evaluates to find students’ own potential and strengths. She aims for good overall tone and melodic lead playing. She can help you to play the style you like best, or find the style that suits you best, and will help you learn to adjust for the ‘feel’ of the song or tune, rather than depend on a single default style of playing.
