Learn a new tune each week while exploring such essentials as getting a full sound, embellishments, chord progressions, backup, musicianship, building repertoire, solo arranging, improvisation, and more. Every musician is different and so emphasis will be placed on finding and developing each individual’s strong points. There is a $15 fee for The Augusta Papers, an instruction booklet of the material covered in class.

Six Mondays, April 19, 26, May 3, 10, 17, and 24, 7:45-8:45 p.m., $120.

This very comprehensive class covers the important aspects of learning to play the hammer dulcimer. The class will be geared to players with no previous experience. Learn a new tune each week and explore standing versus sitting, hammers, lighting, posture, tuning, scale and chord patterns, and much more. Particular emphasis will be given on making your practice musical and having fun. A $15 materials fee for The Foundation, an instruction booklet, is due on the first day of class.
