Do you want to play bluegrass music with others? Are you afraid to join in jam sessions because you can’t follow along? Using the Wernick Method, Rob Bulkley will guide you down the path to successful jamming! Learn the roles of the instruments, jam etiquette, how to lead and follow songs, how to fake solos, and much, much more. Mistakes allowed! Singing encouraged and taught. Easy 2- and 3-chord songs, slow speeds.
All bluegrass instruments (guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, dobro, and
bass) welcome! Be able to tune your instrument and play G, C, D, and A chords. Bring picks, capo, and recorder. More details at Pete Wernick's site.

Irish Ensemble

Aurora Burd, Mary Tulin

Next Session Spring 2012.

This introduction to Irish ensemble playing will present students from both the Irish fiddle and Irish guitar sequences with experiences in the intricacies of duet, trio, and larger group arrangements of session tunes. Develop your ability to lead, follow, and blend your sound with other players, as well as vary your approach to a tune for different situations. We will also discuss session etiquette so that you can enjoy sessions around Seattle or host your own "kitchen sessions". Mainly by ear, but some music and guitar chord charts will be provided; we will use as many pre-learned tunes as possible from the previous classes. For advanced beginners and up; students should have participated in the Irish fiddle or guitar sequences, or gotten instructor permission if not.
