Mike Marshall Mandolin WorkshopTUESDAY, June 17, 200810:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. with 1/2-hour break. $70. Three hours of intensive mandolin instruction with master mandolin virtuoso Mike Marshall. Mike will start at the absolute beginning of basic mandolin playing techniques—from the fundamentals of holding the instrument and the pick to how to negotiate left-hand challenges. He’ll incorporate finger exercises culled from his Great Book of Finger Busters. He will gradually progress to more intricate concepts of mandolin playing, but will always move back to what he believes to be the basics of good tone production and technique. Mike will also give you insight into how to find chords on the mandolin using his own system of triad inversions. From there he will move into rhythm styles, from bluegrass to swing and Brazilian.
