We are pleased to offer gut strings as an option on Dusty Strings harps. Some players and teachers prefer it for the tactile "grip": some simply because it is what they are used to playing. On Dusty Strings harps, gut produces a beautifully warm, round tone and is slightly less bright than nylon.

Gut is available as an option on all Dusty Strings harps. On 34- and 36-string harps, the gut strings replace 18 of the strings; on 26-string harps they replace 16. You can either order them as an option on a new harp or order the conversion set to use on an existing instrument. When changing to gut strings on an existing 34- or 36-string harp with Loveland levers, you will also need to change two sharping lever cam handles. You can contact us to order the necessary cams and tools.

We use Bow Brand Folk Gut strings. Specially designed for lever harps, they are more lightly tensioned than pedal harp gut strings. Never use pedal harp gut strings on your Dusty Strings lever harp as it will void your warranty.
