It is simpler than people expect to make a good sound on the harp. Because of that, the initial learning process is far more pleasurable than many other stringed instruments. Also, the linear layout is straightforward and logical, so quick to understand. That being said, one can also spend years developing technique, style and skills. A local teacher is always a good resource to have. If that is not possible, or if you want to supplement, there are many instruction books and thousands of arrangements written specifically for the harp.
