The soundboard is finished in a semi-gloss black lacquer, increasing the visibility of the strings under varying lighting conditions. The black presents an elegant look and a dramatic contrast to the warmth of the natural wood in the rails and bridges. Since the process of applying black lacquer to the soundboard requires the instrument to have edge-binding, models D10, D45 & PD40 must be ordered with both options. The Chromatic Series (D300, D500, D550, D600, and D650) come with binding as a standard feature.
